There are over 130 breweries here in Massachusetts, with over 30 here in Central Massachusetts alone. At Hickey’s, we pride ourselves on our craft beer selection, which includes favorites from right here in Worcester County and the greater Central Massachusetts area, as well as New England and imports from across the United States and the world. Today, we’d like to highlight three local breweries we always stock, as well as talk more about what you’ll find at Worcester County’s favorite liquor store.
Cold Harbor Brewing in Westborough
Cold Harbor Brewing is a brewery and brew pub located in Westborough, Massachusetts. They have a regular rotation of both beer on tap and canned beer, which we carry in-store. We recommend their Feather Edge, a 6.5% ABV New England IPA. A hazy ale with a fruity aroma and mango, tangerine, and stone fruit flavors, featuring Mosaic, Galaxy, and Citra hops.
Wachusett Brewing in Westminster
Wachusett Brewing has its primary brewery and brewpub in Westminster, with a second brewpub in Worcester. They have both year-round beers and seasonal options, many of which we carry when available in store. We recommend their Blueberry Ale, a 4.5% ABV Amber Ale with a distinct taste. A wheat ale with the taste of fresh blueberries and a crisp, clean finish, with Mosaic, Simcoe, and Cascade Hops.
Wormtown Brewery in Worcester
Wormtown Brewery has its recently renovated brewery and taproom in Worcester, Massachusetts. They make both year-round and seasonal canned beers that we stock in-store. We recommend the Be Hoppy IPA, an Indian Pale Ale that lives up to its name. A 6.5 ABV with huge aromatics and a big citrus-forward taste that comes from the double dry hop and hop back processes of Citra and Cascade hops.
